<p>The body s circadian rhythm, or internal clock, dips naturally in the afternoon, generally between 12:00-2:00. Evidence shows that the brain actually falls into a lull, indicating that the propensity to nap is actually inborn. Further substantiating this belief is that most people can drop off quickly and sleep deeply during this portion of the afternoon than other times of the day.</p>
<p>Sleep experts believe that a mid-afternoon nap of just 20-30 minutes can boost mental alertness and concentration significantly, and it can actually put you in a better mood. Fifteen minutes does not produce a measurable difference, and if you sleep much longer, you may have trouble falling asleep at night.</p>
<p>Studies further demonstrate that afternoon napping is an effective way for people to make up for not getting enough sleep at night. In fact, if you want to make up for lost sleep during the night, it s far better to nap than to sleep late in the morning. Too much sleep in one single stretch can throw your internal clock off and cause further sleep problems.</p>
<p>It s also best to keep your body on a schedule, waking up at the same time each morning and going to bed at the same time each night. The average nighttime sleep ideal seems to be from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. That is the norm, but everyone is different.</p>
<p>Some people require just seven hours of sleep per night, others, like me, need a full nine. This is a pre-determined factor that really cannot be changed, so it s best to find your natural rhythm and go with it. If it seems to include a mid-afternoon catnap, by all means try to fit it into your schedule. You ll likely notice a difference in your level of production and you ll feel better too.</p>

<p>You can be Healthy at any age.</p>
<p>You will learn 4 success tips to creating the healthy life<br />
you desire.  You are not here to just survive life, but to make<br />
a difference in your life in the lives of others.  YOU deserve to be healthy.</p>
<p>I know some would disagree with that last statement, but<br />
everyone does deserve to be healthy in every area of their life.  We may<br />
hits some bumps along the way or we may get a few bruises, but overall<br />
you do deserve the best life possible. A Healthy Life.</p>
<p>Step 1 on your journey to a healthy life: Remember that your<br />
emotional health, the real you on the inside, is probably more important<br />
than the way others see you.  You know, people cannot read your heart,<br />
but you know your heart.  When you speak to yourself inside your head&#8211;<br />
How much is negative? and how much talk is positive?<br />
Three of the greatest words to tell yourself each day is &#8220;I LOVE YOU!</p>
<p>Step 2: A healthy life begins on the inside.  Now that you have<br />
the first step down, then continue on to the next step.  Rid yourself of<br />
people that put you down or are negative towards you.  They are not<br />
worth having as friends or acquaintances.  You deserve better friends.<br />
Friends that speak the truth in love.  They love you for who you are.</p>
<p>Step 3: A life of health and wellness requires putting the right<br />
foods in your kitchen cabinets and at your place of work.  People that desire<br />
to be healthy will be attracted to you.  You will become a magnet.  As you move<br />
towards eating the right kinds of foods, people that eat that same food<br />
will take notice of you.  You won t have those sugar highs and lows throughout<br />
the day nd you will move towards your ideal weight effortlessly.</p>
<p>Step 4:  Be grateful for the little things in life.  A smile (this is<br />
really a big thing).  A healthy life is one in which joy and thankfulness are<br />
at the root of your very being.  When you appreciate others and tell them.<br />
They will respect you and will come to appreciate you and sincerity.</p>
<p>Being Healthy is so important.  Lets change one thing in our life today.<br />
Think well of yourself, do things that are best for you, say what you mean<br />
and always be thankful.  Have a Healthy Life beginning now.</p>

<p>The symptomatic spectrum of multiple sclerosis can be very diverse, involving different manifestations according to the affected body regions. Multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory neurological disease, causing dysfunctions mainly at the level of the central nervous system. Due to the fact that multiple sclerosis affects the nervous system, people with this form of neurological disease can in time experience symptoms in most innervated regions of the body.</p>
<p>An estimated number of over 2 million people worldwide suffer from multiple sclerosis, while in the United States the disease affects around 350.000 people. For some reason, multiple sclerosis predominantly affects the female gender. Although the disease can also be developed by men, multiple sclerosis is very common in women. Another interesting characteristic of multiple sclerosis is that it commonly affects young people. The disease has the highest incidence in people with ages between 20 and 40, rarely affecting the elderly.</p>
<p>Multiple sclerosis involves damage of the nervous cells, destroying myelin, a substance that normally covers neurons. Myelin has a vital role in transmitting nervous impulses throughout the entire body, establishing connections between the neighboring nervous cells. When the layers of myelin are affected, nervous impulses travel at reduced speed between neurons and the body is unable to adequately respond to external stimuli.</p>
<p>The symptoms of multiple sclerosis are diversified and they can be perceived in different regions of the body. Most patients have individualized symptoms of multiple sclerosis, and they tend to occur in episodes, or &#8220;flares&#8221;. The evolution of multiple sclerosis is unpredictable, alternating between stages of remission and stages of relapse. Most people with multiple sclerosis experience intermittent, recidivating symptoms which amplify in the stages of recurrence. Considering the fact that the symptoms of multiple sclerosis are various and at certain stages of the disease unspecific, multiple sclerosis can t be diagnosed only upon clinical manifestations. Multiple sclerosis is usually diagnosed upon laboratory tests, blood analyses and elaborate neurological examinations.</p>
<p>Common, generalized symptoms of multiple sclerosis are: pronounced fatigue, body weakness, sensations of tingling, burning, pain, itching and numbness of the muscles, loss of dexterity and uncoordinated body movement. Other physical symptoms of multiple sclerosis are: decreased vision, loss of mobility, shaking, spasms, tremors, poor balance, dizziness, vertigo. In later stages of the disease, the symptoms of multiple sclerosis can include partial paralysis, renal and gastrointestinal dysfunctions.</p>
<p>Neuropsychological symptoms of multiple sclerosis are: mental confusion altered, inaccurate perceptions poor concentration short-term memory loss compromised judgment and unpredictable, sudden changes of mood. A symptom of multiple sclerosis that commonly occurs in people with this form of neurological disease is depression. Most people affected by multiple sclerosis eventually become depressed and avoid any kind of interaction with other people.</p>
<p>Although many symptoms of multiple sclerosis can be very pronounced at certain stages of the disease, they can be alleviated through the means of medical treatment. Medical treatments available today are able to ease the symptoms of multiple sclerosis in the periods of relapse and in time they can even help the reconstruction of myelin, thus helping patients to recover from the disease. It is important to timely discover the symptoms of multiple sclerosis in order to begin the administration of an appropriate medical treatment before the disease becomes serious.</p>

<p>The Food and Drug Administration recently warned consumers about potential hazards associated with the use of chemical skin peeling products. The agency also has started investigating the seriousness and prevalence of injuries which have actually occurred.</p>
<p>&#8220;We are warning consumers about the use of skin peelers because they can cause serious injuries, particularly when not used under the supervision of a physician,&#8221; said Commissioner David A. Kessler, M.D.</p>
<p>The FDA issued the warning after it received reports of several injuries caused by chemical skin peeling products. The products in question contain ingredients that are supposed to remove wrinkles, blemishes, blotches and acne scars, usually claiming that they restore youthful-looking skin. But the FDA says they may penetrate the skin too deeply, causing severe skin damage. In several cases, persons have been hospitalized for severe burns, swelling and pain.</p>
<p>Harsh chemical peeling products contain different ingredients and their strengths vary, as may each person s reactions to the chemicals used. Peeling products usually contain different acids such as resorcinol, phenol, lactic acid, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, and glycolic acid and other alpha hydroxy acids. These are generally applied to the skin for a brief time each day, for 6 to 12 days. The skin initially reddens, like a sunburn, then darkens and finally peels away, revealing what manufacturers claim will be &#8220;new skin.&#8221; But treatments may be painful and leave permanent scars.</p>
<p>Chemical peels used to be performed only by plastic surgeons and dermatologists. However, they are now administered by a variety of non-medical professionals such as cosmetologists and beauticians, some using newly marketed preparations. Some of the products can even be purchased by mail. Many have inadequate instructions none have been approved by FDA as being safe and effective.</p>
<p>In the course of conducting its investigation, the FDA will review all products marketed with skin peeling claims. Dr. Kessler said FDA is working with state attorneys general who are also taking measures to stop the sale and use of hazardous skin peeling products.</p>
<p>In a warning letter sent to one manufacturer, the FDA said that it considers their product to be a new drug that cannot be legally marketed without FDA approval, and that the product is misbranded and presents a significant health hazard.</p>
<p>Other over-the-counter products designed to renew and rejuvenate are not affected by this announcement. <p>What are Lice? A lice is a tiny, wingless parasitic insect that lives in human hair and feeds on extremely small amounts of blood drawn from the scalp.It is also common knowledge that lice are very common problem, especially for aged 3-12 years (surprisingly girls more often than boys). <p>How are Lice contacted! Lice are contacted by direct head to head contact with an infested person s hair, but may infrequently be transferred with shared combs, hats, pillows and other hair accessories. Most especially for women with long hair, you need to follow this instruction in other to remove lice permanently. *Never share combing accessories with others. For men that barb their hair at the barbing saloon always use your personal barbing equipments. <p>Digestion is the process of breaking down and distributing food throughout the body.  The digestive system comprises of the mouth and teeth at one end and the anus at the other. Between these two extreme ends, a long tube like structure with different names and different functions process the food materials into a usable form. One among them, the esophagus passes through the chest and joins the mouth to the stomach. The stomach extends to the small intestine or small bowel, which is a narrow long tube through which most of the food absorption into the bloodstream takes place.</p>
<p>Let s start our study with our mouth, which is the starting point of the process of digestion. It s there that the mechanical breaking down of food takes place due to chewing and the release of saliva from the salivary glands, whose ducts enter the mouth. The importance of chewing is normally ignored by the general public is merely taken for granted. Nevertheless, proper digestion necessitates extensive chewing, so that food is converted in to a liquid form before it is swallowed. Without proper chewing, undigested food particles may find a place in the stool. The presence of enzymes in the saliva helps to break down complex carbohydrates into simple sugars. Therefore, it is always advisable to chew your foods well, as this will lead to healthier teeth and gums and better digestion.</p>
<p>Some of the vital parts of the lower digestive system consist of the pancreas, the small intestine and the large intestine. The appendix, the rectum, and the anus are positioned below these organs. All of the lower digestive organs play a part in processing food. In the absence of lower digestive organs, the human body would not be able to receive the required nutrients. Chemical digestion and the wave like movement, called peristalsis, occur in the lower digestive system.</p>
<p>It is these lower digestive organs that mix nutrients with digestive juices such as pancreatic and intestinal juices and take in the nutrients from the food. The pancreas supplies pancreatic juices and is then passed into the small intestine. The walls of the small intestine produce intestinal juices. Digestive juices constitute of enzymes that allow the process of digestion to speed up. The foods we eat are mainly made up of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins, in which enzymes break down to simpler parts. The fats are reconstituted to glycerol and fatty acids. The carbohydrates, which are also known as sugars and starches, are broken down into simple sugars while the proteins are broken down into amino acids. After this, all these particles are taken or absorbed into the bloodstream. During the process of digestion of amino acids, they are separated and get absorbed into the body cells. These separated amino acids are put into use for building body proteins.</p>
<p>Certain things like water, vitamins, and minerals need not to be digested, only absorbed. At the end of the process, the remaining food substances are converted into feces. The process that involves the feces occurs in the large intestine, the rectum, and the anus. The appendix is placed in the same area as the large intestine, the rectum, and the anus. The pancreas, without doubt, is an essential organ in the human body. It s a gland that is approximately five to six inches long and is located behind the stomach. The pancreas creates important digestive juices composed of enzymes, which breakdown fats, proteins, acids, carbohydrates, and bicarbonates.</p>
<p>The pancreas is encircled by blood vessels that pump out the hormones glucogen and insulin into the blood. These glucagons make glycogen to change into glucose at a high rate. Another pancreatic hormone, insulin helps glucose to enter into the body cells. It also controls the blood sugar and avoids it from building up. If the pancreas could not turn out the insulin, then the result is diabetes, a sugar build up.</p>
<p>Another essential organ, the small intestine absorbs nutrients from foods and sends them into the blood stream. The small intestine can be further divided into three sections the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. It is at duodenum that, partially digested food and chemicals directly enter from the stomach. The section jejunum absorbs nutrients into the blood stream. At ileum, the left over nutrients are absorbed into the blood stream. The small intestine is 18-23 feet long in the average adult and is in the shape of a long coiled looped tube. A type of movement that occurs in the small intestine called peristalsis moves food slowly through the small intestine. These wavelike movements occur once in a while thus, allowing nutrients to be absorbed.</p>
<p>The large intestine, named also as colon, takes control of the food, the water and the fiber that the small intestine is unable to break down. After that, bacteria convert the waste into feces. During this time, vitamins B and K are formed for the body. The feces then proceed through the digestive system towards the anal canal. The rectum gathers and holds the feces until it is ready to be expelled by the body.</p>

<p>In Part 2 of this series, Health Fitness Guide - Desire, the Framework for All Achievement, I talked about desire. Though a good framework, desire is not enough to reach your fitness goals. Every day we desire something a higher paying job, a new car, better health, etc. We can even want these things with a burning desire but how often do those things happen through just wishing? About as often as you win the lottery, right?</p>
<p>If desire s not enough, what s the next step? What will help you attain that which you desire, your fitness goals?</p>
<p>Faith.</p>
<p>I m not talking about religious faith though that can play a part. I m talking about faith which can be created. It s defined as a state of mind created by repeated affirmations or instructions given to the subconscious mind in the form of autosuggestion. Autosuggestion coming from oneself, the repetition of verbal or sub-vocal messages as a means of changing behavior.</p>
<p>What exactly does this mean? Through the process just described, you convince the subconscious that the fitness goal which you desire to achieve, you will achieve, and it will act upon that belief by passing back to you concrete plans for achieving that goal in the form of faith. But keep in mind that you must state your affirmations or instructions in the present tense because subconscious knows no past or future, only the present.</p>
<p>If you can convince your subconscious of your fitness desires and faith in those desires then those thoughts turn into reality. You convince the subconscious by emotionalizing your thoughts backed by faith. When that happens the subconscious immediately begins to translate your thoughts into their physical counterparts.</p>
<p>All this means is that through simple, repetitive techniques you retrain your conscious and unconscious mind in a positive, goal oriented manner to overcome old habits and create new fitness habits. These new habits become ingrained and automatic, habits you believe in to the point that you re 100% convinced you can obtain your goals and nothing will get in your way.</p>
<p>Faith.</p>
<p>Borrowing from Napoleon Hill s book  &#8220;Think and Grow Rich,&#8221; below is a self-confidence &#8220;formula&#8221; I ve modified for individual health and fitness goals.</p>
<p>Self-confidence Formula

I know that I have the ability to achieve any fitness goal in life therefore, I demand of myself persistent, continuous action toward its attainment.
I realize the dominating thoughts of my mind will eventually reproduce themselves in outward, physical action, and gradually transform themselves into physical reality therefore, I will concentrate my thoughts at least twice daily upon the task of thinking of the fitness goal I intend to achieve, thereby creating in my mind a clear mental picture.
I know through the principle of autosuggestion, any fitness desire that I persistently hold in my mind will eventually seek expression through some practical means of attaining it therefore, I will devote ten minutes daily to demanding of myself the development of self-confidence.
I have clearly written down a description of my fitness goal, and will never stop trying, until I have developed sufficient self-confidence for its attainment.
I will sign my name to this formula, commit it to memory, and repeat it aloud twice a day, once upon arising and once before retiring to bed, with full faith that it will gradually influence my thoughts and actions so that I will become a self-reliant, and successful person.

<p>In the next part of this series I ll focus on autosuggestion and lay out concrete tools for influencing the subconscious mind through autosuggestion.</p>

<p>Head lice can be a pesky problem for any parent of children who attend day care or school. No one ever thinks about lice until their child gets it, and addition to day care and school, even the cleanest children can contract head lice from places like:</p>

<p>birthday parties</p>
<p>sleep overs</p>
<p>It is bad enough if your child comes home with head lice, but even worse, most parents believe they need to use poisons to get rid of it. The following paragraphs will discuss some natural ways to get rid of head lice.</p>
<p>When trying to get rid of a case of head lice, killing the bugs is always the first step. Most parents do not know that mayonnaise is extremely effective in killing the lice bugs. Using mayonnaise stored at room temperature, the first step in killing the lice bugs is to cover your child s hair with mayonnaise. When all of his/her hair has been saturated with the mayonnaise, put a shower cap on their head and leave it on for at least two hours. This not only smothers and kills the lice bugs, it also helps loosen the eggs the bugs have already cemented to your child s hair.</p>
<p>After you have left the mayonnaise on your child s head for at least two hours, the next step is loosening the nits, or lice eggs, even more. You should first try washing the mayonnaise out of your child s hair with regular shampoo. This could take more than one washing. If you are having a lot of luck washing the mayonnaise out with regular shampoo, you can use dish washing liquid with very warm water. This is sometimes more effective in removing the mayonnaise than regular shampoo.</p>
<p>Do not use conditioner at this point. Instead, to help loosen the eggs that are still attached to your child s hair, rinse their hair and scalp with white vinegar. The white vinegar will help loosen any nits that still exist. Rinse the vinegar out with hot water, but not water that is hot enough to burn the scalp. Use a regular comb to remove any tangles, and use a nit come to remove the nits.</p>
<p>If your child comes home with head lice, everyone in the household should be checked. Even the smallest nit can hatch and cause an infestation. This natural cure really works, and is not dangerous to your child s health and well being at all.</p>

<p>Stress tests are sometimes called treadmill or exercise tests and are used basically to help diagnose how well the heart handles work. Stress tests are effective in gauging how well the heart handles work since it measures how the heart works while the body works progressively at the duration of the test. As the body works, it requires more oxygen which prompts the heart to pump more blood. Stress tests then show if blood supply is reduced in the arteries that transport blood to the heart. This is vital for doctors to determine the kind and intensity of exercise fit for the individual.</p>
<p>What to Expect when Taking a Stress Test?</p>
<p>During a stress test, the individual is hooked up to an apparatus that monitors the heart. S/he is then asked to walk slowly in place on a treadmill, which speed in increased at a faster pace until it is tilted for more challenge similar to climbing a small hill. The individual may then be asked to breathe into a tube for a couple of minutes to further assess lung capacity and tension. <p>Living Life Medicine/Pharmaceutical Free sounds like an oxymoron-doesn t it?  To some it is-to others it will seem redundant, because millions of people throughout the world are living Medicine/Pharmaceutical Free.  How can that be?-You might ask.  Everyone needs aspirin, antacids or a pain reliever occasionally.  Yes, people need remedies for stomach acid or pain relievers, occasionally, however, there are a plethora of natural remedies.</p>
<p>The most common uses of Over-the-Counter Drugs (OTC) are for headaches, heartburn/acid reflux, colds/flu, allergies and constipation.</p>
<p>Headaches Remedies:</p>
<p>Based on Chinese acupuncture and Japanese Shiatsu techniques pressure point techniques can be applied.  The process takes 5 to 10 minutes to create relief.  Unlike prescription or OTC drugs, it works almost instantaneously with no side effects.  People often feel relief before the routine is completed.  Other natural remedies include: herbs-such as: Willow Bark, Aromatherapy, Massage, and biofeedback.  Migraine headaches are frequently linked to food allergies and sensitivities-therefore food allergies/sensitivities need to be determined and those foods eliminated to fully resolve migraine headaches for some people.</p>
<p>Heartburn and Acid Reflux Remedies:</p>
<p>Vitamin C, Licorice Root or Probiotics relieves heartburn. Heartburn is characterized by excess stomach acid backing up into the esophagus, its actual cause can be an undiagnosed food allergy or sensitivity. Eating fewer processed foods and taking time to eat slowly can often eliminate heartburn.</p>
<p>Cold Remedies:</p>
<p>Zinc lozenges, Vitamin C, N-Aceytl-Cysteine and/or Willow Bark.</p>
<p>Allergy Remedies:  Vitamin C. Grape Seed, Feverfew, Bee Pollen, Goldenseal, Echinacia, Quercetin and other Bioflavonoids.</p>
<p>Constipation Remedies:  Water (minimum 64 oz. per day), Vegetables high in fiber, Aloe Vera and Cascara Sagrada. Being constipated is your body s way of telling you that you are not eating right. Ask yourself: Do you want to do what your body needs or ignore what your body needs and then use OTC drugs to treat the symptoms. The choice is yours.</p>
<p>Through illness your body is working to get your attention.  Every malady or pain&#8211;either physical or mental is your body s way of communicating what it needs.</p>
